Standing Seam Metal Roof Going On a New Build

This one is a new build, and it's coming together really nicely. The homeowner supplied the materials, and we came in to handle the installation - making sure everything goes on right the first time. That's actually a setup we're pretty comfortable with. When someone has already sourced their own panels and accessories, the job comes down entirely to the quality of the install.

Standing seam is one of the best roofing systems you can put on a home. The panels run vertically from ridge to eave, and the seams between them lock together above the surface - meaning there are no exposed fasteners to rust, back out, or become a leak point down the road. It's a cleaner look and a more durable system compared to traditional screw-down metal or asphalt shingles.

Before the panels go on, the roof deck gets covered with DuPont Tyvek Protec 200 - a high-performance roofing underlayment. It acts as a secondary water barrier and helps the metal panels expand and contract with temperature changes without squeaking or trapping moisture underneath. It's the kind of detail that matters for long-term performance, even if nobody ever sees it once the job is done.

The panels are already on and looking sharp. We're waiting on the finishing accessories - ridge cap, trim pieces, and any remaining flashings - before we call it complete. Once those arrive, we'll button up the rest and this roof will be ready to handle whatever comes at it for decades. Log-sided homes like this one deserve a roof that matches the quality of the build, and standing seam does exactly that.
