This one had a few things going on. The homeowner had a leak tracing back to the roof valley - the area where two roof planes meet. The valley wasn't installed correctly, which meant water was finding its way in every time it rained. That's the kind of problem that doesn't fix itself, and waiting on it only makes the damage worse.

We repaired the valley and added proper flashing to make sure water routes off the roof the way it's supposed to. Flashing is one of those things that gets overlooked, but it's doing a lot of heavy lifting every single time it rains. Get it wrong, and you've got a water intrusion problem. Get it right, and you've got a roof that actually sheds water like it should.

After the structural work was done, we followed up with a professional roof wash to clear out the algae and lichen that had built up across the shingles. Algae and lichen aren't just an eyesore - they actually break down the surface of your shingles over time, shortening the life of the roof. Cleaning it off isn't just cosmetic work. It's maintenance.

The before and after difference on a wash like this is always noticeable. But more than the appearance, it's about what you're protecting. A roof on a home like this - lakefront, tree-covered, dealing with moisture and shade - needs consistent attention. We do roof inspections, repairs, and washes because those three things work together. You can't fully protect a roof if you're only doing one of them.
