Sometimes a home just needs a few targeted fixes - not a full overhaul. That was exactly the situation here. A failing front step and compromised flashing below the roof valleys were the two main problems, and left alone, both could cause bigger headaches down the road.

We started with the front step. The old one was gone, so we built a fresh replacement from the ground up. New framing, new decking - solid and level. It's the kind of thing you don't think about until it becomes a safety issue, and we wanted to make sure this family had a safe, sturdy entry point before anything else.

On the roof, we pulled back the shingles in the problem areas and got a close look at what was going on below the valleys. The flashing had failed, which is one of the most common entry points for water damage. We replaced it properly and installed a new ridge cap as well - part of what was needed to meet the homeowner's insurance requirements.

That ridge cap detail matters more than most people realize. Insurance companies want to see that your roof is sealed and protected at its most vulnerable points. Getting that done right keeps your coverage intact and your home protected from whatever the next storm brings.

Small repairs like these - a step here, some flashing and a ridge cap there - are easy to put off. But they stack up fast when ignored. We handle roof repairs and maintenance jobs like this all the time, and the goal is always the same: get it done right so you're not dealing with a bigger problem later.
